American
White Ibis
(Eudocimus albus)
This adult Ibis was admitted after being
attacked by an Osprey!

The Osprey was not looking at the bird as a prey
item since they only eat fish, but as an intruder.
This bird had the misfortune of flying too close
to an active Osprey nest, and was attacked
because he was seen as a threat to the babies in
the nest!

There was a gentleman who witnessed the attack
and was able to take the bird to our area's
Emergency Vet Clinic.  The Veterinarian on-call
was an experienced wildlife Vet, and he gave this
bird the best care possible.

After a stay of 2 weeks, we were able to
successfully release this animal to continue along
his migratory path
.
